It keeps popping up on my dash because of the new tag system and the fact that it’s a popular post.

I’m not even going to give it the benefit of a reblog, but those chunky knit designs??? That are literally only roving??? Not even felted or spun in the slightest???

I feel so bad for those suckers who buy those. Those products are going to fall apart, pill, and shed like crazy upon use. Typical wool staple length is 4 inches. One side of the V on the knit stitch looks approx 4 inches. You could easily tug at the side of the knit stitch and pull the “yarn” apart. You HAVE to either felt the fiber together or add spin in order for the yarn to hold up. The product pictures show none of this.

Yes, they look gorgeous and comfy and warm….but only if you don’t actually use it for its intended use.

And I seriously had to draw the freaking line at selling a braid of roving as a scarf. What the actual hell?

EDIT: this is in regards to a specific shop of items/“artist” that is being heavily advertised on tumblr as of late. Most chunky knits I see do felt the wool which is why this is so painful. This shop is clearly not felting and yet has gained the most traction/popularity.
