Peter Capaldi’s costume is revealed:

The official description from the BBC is “a dark blue Crombie coat with red lining, dark blue trousers, a white shirt as well as black Dr. Marten shoes.“

More than a hint of Jon Pertwee in the overall look, I think.

Capaldi thoughts

I like Peter Capaldi. I think he’ll be an excellent Doctor.

I was hoping for more of a daring and game-changing choice. This is not it.

However, the more important choice is who will be showrunner when Moffatt leaves. As long as the White British Men’s Club is running Doctor Who, the choice of Doctor is likely to reflect their idealised self-image.

Doctor Who is my favourite fictional universe, and it’s imperfect and will always be imperfect, and I wish it was better, and I like it anyway.
